Project Summary

I sold a comic book script to Mojo Press for inclusion in a graphic novel anthology that also featured work by F. Paul Wilson, Michael Moorcock, Roger Zelazny, and others. Soon after, I was paired with artist Michael Lark to produce the first 6 pages for a promotional sampler to debut at San Diego Comic-Con.

Lark, known for his work on legacy Marvel and DC titles, captured the mood of 1880 London perfectly, and elevated the dark, quirky themes of the story.

During the creative process, we discussed historical research, panel composition, and dialogue of the era, plus included several Easter-egg homages (e.g., Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" on p.6 & 7, and Frankenstein on p.15). It was a pleasure to work with Lark, and a thrill to see the script come to life in this unique way. The entire story is below.

Result

"In Repose" helped create buzz, and gave comic book fans a taste of a forthcoming anthology that featured top names in the industry.
